ISSUE INTRODUCTION

Article 41

And then, it was over. The 2006 season came to an end in dramatic
fashion as the Dallas Diesel come from behind 19-7 to win 24-19 over
Nashville. The Championship game was a highlight of the NAFL
Championship weekend that featured the North versus South and East
versus West All-Star games as well as the NALF2 Championship.

With the NAFL Championship Weekend in the rear view mirror, the NAFL
now can move towards 2007. Already, several big changes have accured
that will give the Great Lakes Region a new look in the coming season.
THE TEAM
One such change will be coming on the sides of the Patriot organization.
That change will be a new Head Coach on the sidelines for 2007.

The Royal and Scarlet expect to name the new man in charge in the
upcoming weeks. Already over a dozen candidates have been
interviewed and a great list of finalists are entering the final selection
stage. Though things always can change in the sometimes chaotic world
of the Minor Leagues, right now it is projected that one of three finalists
will be named the Head Coach in 2007 and all three candidates will be
relocating from out of state to fill the void.
AROUND THE NAFL
Just recently you heard that there will be a new face in the Great Lakes
East, the Tri-City Titans of Canada. The Titans may not be the only new
addition as huge moves may be sweeping the Region.

During the 2006 season owners meeting in Orlando, it is rumored that the
Racine Raiders, Hoosier Hurricanes, and Kane County Eagles may each
play "Musical Chairs" by division. The biggest move could be with the
Hurricanes, who are the farthest opponent in the Western Lakes Division
and a considerable distance from the Eastern Lakes. The Hurricanes may
be moved to the South and join a division that features teams
considerably closer in travel for all parties. This move would also mean
they would be leaving the Great Lakes Region. In the case of such an
event, the Western Lakes Division and the Grass Roots Division may both
be realigned to make for closer travel. With several teams in Ohio, a
whole new look may occur that could also mean another face in the
Eastern Lakes Division. Stay tuned to see how this all turns out .
ON THE WIRE
Getting a jump on 2007, several veterans have already been resigned as
an early core to build around. The team is not taking its time on finding
players to join the core group as the staff has already evaluated and
signed a few rookie Minor Leaguers.

James Montemayor, WR, 6'1" 170 lbs. - Colorado Springs, Colorado
The Colorado Springs native springs a youthful and speedy addiction to
the receiver position. Montemayor was a All State performer in track while
in Colorado, placing in the 100M, 200M, and 4X1 relay teams. He was an
All Tri-Peaks League Honorable Mention football player who also played
defensive back for Colorado Springs Christian.

Zachary Rivest, OT, 6'5" 250 lbs. - Burton, Michigan.
At 6'5" and 250 pounds, Rivest provides a solid frame to build into a
productive offensive tackle. He is projected to compete at left tackle,
where his athletic build and long wingspan should help him compete
against the speedy rushing defensive ends found at right defensive end
in the NAFL.

Thomas Cole, TE, 6'1" 210 lbs. - Flushing, Michigan
Cole is a versatile addition to the Patriot family that could be seen at more
than one position. A prep Fullback and Linebacker, he projects as a Tight
End with solid hands that should add competition to what has historically
been one of the strongest and deepest positions for the Patriots.

Information on more of the new Patriot signings will be found in each
addition of the Patriot Insider.
