Article 45

A new era begins under Head Coach Andre Weathers, just one of many new faces to the 2007 staff. Weathers
brings a winning attitude and a passion for Genesee County that the organization expects will light a fire under
both the program and the community. That winning attitude stems from a playing career that took him from one
of the best teams a Flint High School (11-1, Flint Central HS 1993) ever produced to a national championship
with the University of Michigan in 1997. If that wasn't enough, the All Big Ten Defensive Back went on to play for
the New York Giants and included a trip to the Super Bowl. Many such athletes who go on to such great things
never come back to the city of Flint or Genesee County. Coach Weathers was not your average Flint athlete;
not only did he return home, but he took on the job of restoring greatness to his alma matter and helped lead
them to a winning season and a game away from a playoff birth in his first year. A three win improvement from
their previous season.

Coach Weathers expects that same type of success with the Patriots, if not better. So does a staff full of new
coaches including the son of University of Michigan Assistant Head Coach Fred Jackson, Fred Jackson JR, who
will be the quarterbacks coach. Along with him comes a 15 year coaching veteran in Offensive Coordinator Jeff
Simpson and other such names as another former New York Giant in Mark Ingram. Ingram had a decade long
NFL career and won a Super Bowl Ring while he was doing it. Even a former Continental Basketball Association
Head Coach joins the team as a Recruiting Director in Jeff Grayer.

Few finer staffs have been assembled in the Minor Leagues. The new staff comes from a tradition of winning, a
tradition they are determined to establish here in Genesee County with the Patriots.
THE TEAM
Athletes who are already in off season meetings and training have had a distinct advantage of being taught the
systems under their new offensive and defensive coordinators. The fact that the current roster of athletes
already will have a good foundation in each system will give them a great jump on the start of the season. This
advantage will be as if the veterans and signed athletes for 2007 already had a year in the system.

With a group of athletes already trained, the transition for those selected from the March 3 Combine and future
signed free agents is expected to go much faster with the help of the previous educated athletes.
AROUND THE NAFL
What a realignment! The Great Lakes Region moved from three divisions of 5 teams to two divisions of 6 teams.
Meanwhile, the remaining teams not included in those new divisions have moved to other regions. The Great
Lakes Region is now made up of the Central Lakes Division and the Erie Lakes Division.

What was once the Western Lakes Division is now divided into other areas. That means old cross division foe
Hoosier Hurricanes will no longer be on the schedule, nor would top ranked programs like the Racine Raiders or
the Kane County Eagles. Racine and Kane County moved to the Mid-West Region, meaning the Patriots will not
see them unless they meet one of the two in the Northern Conference Championship game. Meanwhile, the
Hurricanes moved south. This means, a rematch with the Hurricanes would not be seen until the NAFL
Semi-Finals. The new schedule also means one more change, for the first time in 4 years, the Patriots will enter
the season with a schedule that is not rated in the nation's top 10 toughest schedules.

On an unrelated note: The NAFL Championship Weekend, which features the NAFL 1&2 Championship games
as well as multiple All Star games and the Pro Player Combine, is to be relocated to Las Vegas. Las Vegas is an
upgrade that will help create a more exciting location worthy of the World's Largest Minor League's biggest
weekend!
ON THE WIRE
As the team prepares for the upcoming combine, the staff has also resigned a couple key players who will help
put the team in a better position when making selections at the combine.

Jason Trombley, DB, 5'7" 170 lbs. - Bay City, Michigan
Resigned from last years roster, Trombley is a veteran of the Minor Leagues entering his fourth season. He is a
versatile athlete who has previous played tail back as well as wide receiver before being converted into a full
time defensive back last year. The team expects to get the full use of his versatility this season.

Andy Tvorik, NG, 5'11" 211 lbs. - Davison, Michigan
Tvorik becomes one of the first players in Patriot history to be reactivated. He was previously deactivated for
issues unrelated to health or team suspension. His experience in his first season on the defensive line makes
him a valuable commodity. He replaces Kyle Stevens on the roster, a defensive lineman who saw limited action
in 2006. Tvorik is expected to compete for an increased role on the defensive front in Coach Andre Weather's
new system.
